Bachelors Degree This program will benefit both laity and those who are pursuing ordained ministry. A Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Center for Biblical Studies may be earned in one of four ways: Take 84 semester hours at the Center and add 36 designated semester hours from an accredited college.* Receive the Centers Two-Year Diploma. Earn an AA Degree at another college, and return to combine the two in order to receive a Bachelor Degree from the Center for Biblical Studies. Work on the Two-Year Diploma and an AA Degree concurrently. Transfer an existing AA degree to the Center for Biblical Studies, and complete coursework for the Two-Year Diploma.  The Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies is designed to provide enrichment in the areas of Biblical truth and effective ministry. A total of 120 semester credits must include at least a C average (122 quality points) and have completed all required core and additional courses that are required for the student's particular area of emphasis. Up to six semester hours from half or one-day seminars may be included in this degree. Any course yielding a minimum grade of D will not be included in the calculation and should be retaken through our forgiveness policy. Individual course requirements may vary depending upon a combination of credits transferred, experience, and the call for which one is being prepared. A full-time student may complete this degree in 3 years. Areas of study with specific course requirements are listed below.This degree may include a major study emphasis in Biblical Studies, Christian Counseling, Ministry & Leadership, Missions & Evangelism or Theology. Individual course requirements may vary depending upon a combination of credits transferred, experience, and the call for which one is being prepared. Entrance Requirement In order to maximize student success, each applicant for credit courses at the undergraduate level is required to take a writing exercise within one week of registration. Meet with an Academic Advisor Students are urged to make an appointment with an Academic Advisor as soon as possible to develop a personalized plan of study for current and future semesters. Formal application must be completed before 9 semester hours of work has been completed. Click here for forms. Seminary Track An individually designed seminary track will be developed for students seeking ordination.  The Center advisor will evaluate the transcript of students who have completed part or all of these requirements to check compliance. The Center advisors can help students plan how to pick up the specific courses needed at TCC or elsewhere while continuing their education at the Center. Florida's Liberal Studies program requires: 6 hours math 6 hours English composition 6-12 hours social science/history** 5-11 hours humanities/fine arts** 7 hours natural science (includes one lab) * In this option students are required to complete the State of Florida mandated basic studies requirements at TCC, FAMU, FSU or some other SACS accredited institution. The remaining 84 hours needed to complete a B. A. degree can be taken at the Center. ** There is flexability in these two areas so students may pursue their interests in humanities/fine arts or social science/history by taking more than the minimum number of credits in one of the two areas (For example, if you really enjoy history so you can take 12 hours in social science/history and only 5 in humanities/fine arts, which will still equal 36 hrs.) |
