![]() The Center offers students the opportunity to study in Israel. Living and studying in the land where Biblical events actually took place deepens the understanding of Scripture, increases our ability to communicate its message, and expands cultural awareness and sensitivity to world events. To facilitate such a living experience, the Center for Biblical Studies, cooperates with Jerusalem University College (JUC), and accepts their classes for academic credit and personal growth study. These courses are the Geographical and Historical Setting of the Bible, and Jesus and His Times, as well as a Short Term Pastor and Parishioner Study Tour. All applicants to JUC must complete a medical information form, since field work involves strenuous and sustained hiking in rugged terrain, and applications must be received three months prior to the program desired. One year of college work required. Please contact the Registrar for further information. Geographical And Historical Settings of The Bible (GEO 410) Instructors: Jerusalem University College Faculty Physical Prerequisites: Complete medical exam This intensive three-week course is designed to introduce the geography, history and archaeology of the land of the Bible. A mix of regional studies, daily and overnight field trips, walks and lectures, and map work prior to arrival, all help the student apply the geographical context of the holy land to the reality of the Biblical events as they experience the land of the Bible. Applications must be completed three months prior to the course. Contact the CBS Registrar’s Office for further information. Two semester credits. Jerusalem University College, Jerusalem, Israel. Jesus And His Times (HIS 411) Instructors: Jerusalem University College Faculty Physical Prerequisites: Complete medical exam A special two-week course emphasizing the geographical, historical and cultural setting of Israel during New Testament times and the life of Christ. Students willreceive lectures covering the history and culture, background of the period, walking tours of Jerusalem, along with extensive investigation of the Galilee region. all with emphasis on the first century AD. Students will share a unique experience of traveling together throughout Israel and studying the land of the Bible on location. Applications must be completed three months prior to the course. Short Term Pastor and Parishioner Study Tour Instructors: Jerusalem University College Faculty Physical Prerequisites: Complete medical exam This two-week non-credit introduction to the biblical setting of Scripture is not a typical tour of the Holy Land. Faculty members are specially trained in the archaeology and geography of the land. Daily hiking to visit sites not normally viewed by typical holy land tours can be rigorous and sustained in rugged terrain. Participants must be in excellent physical condition. Skilled instructors will challenge your thinking and make Bible reading and teaching come alive as never before. The program is offered in late October and again in April. Materials are made available in response to requests from believers in Kakamega, Kenya. This non-credit program is under the direction of Center partner David Fritz. Student responses to various areas of ministry focus are evaluated and returned, providing ongoing, practical assistance to those who minister in Kakamega and neighboring regions. Additional Christian materials are being sent to libraries in several parts of the African continent. The Seoul, South Korea Center includes hands-on training in cross-cultural church planting as well as solid, academic courses leading to a Masters Degree, through an international blend of teachers, trainers, and trainees. Missionaries from countries throughout the Far East are trained through an agreement with the CBS and Global Teams, an international mission organization. Student transcripts are received through the Center for Biblical Studies. Masters degrees are offered in Church Planting and in Missions/Evangelism through a program co-sponsored by the Center for Biblical Studies and Global Teams, an international mission organization. Classes are attended by a wide variety of international students. Transcripts and diplomas are given through the Center for Biblical Studies. Check out our current offerings
